Community Care Attendants Are Making Their Voices Heard
As the Texas Legislature finalizes the state budget, Community Care Attendants are speaking up to make sure lawmakers understand the dire need to provide higher wages.
Thousands of Attendants have written to elected officials, urging them to increase Medicaid rates for the Community Care program. These emails and letters help state leaders understand that, without a rate increase, more and more attendants will leave the program for jobs where they can earn more. That would leave older Texans and those with disabilities with only one option — a lower quality of life in a nursing facility.
